The Central American boa is a large, heavy constrictor. It can live 25 to 30 years and females reach over 2 metres. It needs a big enclosure and a keeper who is ready for its size.

Give a warm side of 30 to 32 °C and a cool side of 26 to 28 °C, with humidity of 55 to 70%. Use a thermostat on every heat source.

Feed juveniles every 7 to 10 days and adults every 2 to 3 weeks. Overfeeding causes obesity. Check your provincial permit rules before you buy. It is listed on CITES Appendix II.
