The leopard gecko is a calm, ground-dwelling gecko from dry, rocky areas. It is one of the best first reptiles and can live 15 to 20 years.
Give a temperature gradient: a warm spot of 30 to 32 °C on the floor and a cool side of 22 to 26 °C. Use a heat mat or heat lamp with a thermostat. Low-level UVB helps. Keep the air dry, but give one humid hide with damp moss to help it shed.
Feed live insects like crickets, roaches and mealworms. Dust them with calcium, and with a multivitamin once a week. Feed juveniles daily and adults every 2 to 3 days.
