The Chilean rose is a hardy, slow-growing tarantula from dry scrubland. It is a classic beginner species and can live 20 years or more.
Keep it dry. A water dish is all the moisture it needs. A damp, stuffy enclosure causes more problems than a dry one.
It is famous for long fasts. Adults can refuse food for months. If the abdomen is still plump, simply keep offering food every week or two.
