The ball python is a calm, medium-sized python that can live 30 years or more. It is a good beginner snake if you keep the humidity right.
Give a warm side of 31 to 32 °C and a cool side of 26 to 28 °C. Keep humidity at 55 to 70%, higher when it sheds. Low humidity causes bad sheds.
Feed juveniles every 7 days and adults every 2 weeks. Healthy adults sometimes refuse food for weeks, often in winter. Watch the weight, not the calendar. Check provincial permit rules. It is listed on CITES Appendix II.
